Mike Gentry is excited to help customers on big and small projects. He understands how furniture is made, what makes one sofa superior to another and how to pull together a room you can be proud of.

Mike has been in the furniture business on the management side with a major retailer since 1999. Along the way he has amassed a great deal of furniture knowledge and desire to delight his customers. As a father and husband, he understands that furniture has to be functional as well as beautiful. He can recommend the right fabrics for family life as well as formal spaces.

A native of Caldwell County, Mike enjoys spending time with his wife, Michele, and two daughters, Megan and Macie. When he’s not on the golf course, he and his family enjoy travelling to the mountains and beach.

Move over chocolate, it’s time for gray to shine!

This season, play down the brown tones in your home and add a transitional pop with the color gray. The same shades that are making waves on runways also belong in your living spaces.

Just like your favorite sweater, gray can be sleek, collected and cozy. Gray first came to the forefront in small ways in 2008 and continues to be a strong trend in home furnishings.

If you already have a tried and true brown leather sofa, try a textured gray pillow with an unexpected pop of bright yellow. Gray flannel chairs flanking your sofa paired with a bright rug also will update your interior. If you want to start small, try gray in the bedroom with a new throw or comforter. Pair gray with white for a tailored look, or mix with blue and even purple for a worldlier, rested feel.

Chilton Jarrett brings a wealth of knowledge to her customers in the Internet department. Before joining the team at Good’s, she worked at several major furniture retailers for seven years, gaining expertise and understanding of furniture and design.

A graduate of NC State University, Chilton is an avid Wolfpack and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. She and her husband live in Valdese with their two dogs and two cats. During her off time, she and her husband enjoy going to ballgames, travelling and playing with their animals.

Ramsay Cabot has never lost her enthusiasm for fine furniture. A 15-year veteran of the business, she delights in seeing new product arrive at Good’s and helping customers find exactly what they are seeking.

This North Carolina native now lives in Valdese and enjoys spending time with her two adult children, Ted and Chilton. She graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill and is no stranger to large commercial and residential projects.

Good’s Welcomes Kathryn Szelazek

Kathryn Szelazek is a recent graduate of The Art Institute of Charlotte with an Associate’s degree in Interior Design. Although she is new to Good’s, she is no stranger to work. As a military wife and mother of two young boys, she successfully juggled school, home and career for several years.

It’s that same multi-tasking spirit that makes Kathryn a great salesperson.

Kathryn grew up in the Winston-Salem area watching her father remodel homes. She helped and learned new skills as she watched him create beautiful homes and rooms. Although she never imagined working in the furniture industry, she loves her career and the people she meets at Good’s Hickory showroom.

Alex Thompson is a young designer with a great deal of skill and enthusiasm for her craft. A recent graduate of Appalachian State University with a degree in industrial design, Alex has a strong passion for learning everything about furniture and applying her skill as a designer to craft spaces that delight.

A Hickory native, Alex grew up in the furniture business surrounded by family in the industry. Her primary focus is design, but she also enjoys painting, photography, spending time outdoors and traveling with her dog, Abby. She enjoys working with clients in Good’s Hickory showroom and helping find a way to make their dream a reality.

Her organizational skills also help with large projects – both industrial and residential. And she is adept at floor planning and translating a wish list into a perfect space.
